Kyloe2010 "Kyloe" While hiking through the highlands of Scotland, I came across this curious pair of highland cattle and they walked right up to me. I can only assume they somehow saw me through all that fur! (This image won the 2011 National Geographic Traveler Photo Contest "People's Choice Award".)

2011 This young Romanian shepherd is carrying his sheep back from the fields where it had broken its leg. It was a poignant moment and it felt like I was seeing a painting.

2012_DSC6951 2012 Fall on the island of Kauai, signaling a change in the direction of the trade winds.

2013_DSC0063 2013 While sunset sailing along the NaPali coastline of Kauai I captured this image of the "Cathedral". It was the calmest day I ever had out there on the water.

2014_DSC9983 2014 After standing in the rain for a few hours, soaking wet in the middle of the night, hitting the shutter over and over again... I came away with a lot of completely black shots... and this one frame at the end where I caught two lightning bolts in one image!

2015_DSC8423 2015 My first year at Burning Man, my camp-mates and I went exploring the art structures in deep playa and found my favorite one that year, the Black Rock Lighthouse. Shortly after we arrived the dust storm hit us!

2016_DSC6507 2016 This mother whale breached near our boat in Maui and I was able to capture just a few frames of her in mid air. My heart pounding for about 20 minutes afterwards!

2017_DSC2294 2017 At sunrise, lava pouring into the sea in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. On new years eve of that year, 26 acres of cliffs fell into the ocean and the lava tube that had been flowing across them was suddenly dropping from about 80 feet at the top of the cliffs and exploding at the bottom. It was one of the most incredible things I've ever seen!
